Sprint and AT&T will let you add a Gear S to your current plan for $10 and access that data bucket, while T-Mobile is offering a standalone $5 plan with unlimited talk, text and 500MB of data for the watch itself.

The Gear S features some pretty “BLOW-YOUR-PANTS” off components and We Believe Samsung’s Gear S -> Is The *truly* World-Renound, BEGINNING of the SmartWatch Craze and Mass-Adoption, because with streaming data on a smartwatch, w/a headpiece, our staff and i personally have gotten used to my $700 USD 3G/2G chinese developed and wearablesgroup.com ‘supercharged’ to LTE..

Consumers will take typically 2 to 4 months to get used to the awkward use of a watch VS. a smartphone.. But, a Standalone smartwatch, with power, large display, fashion & style built in and changeable. Samsung is POISED by our forecasts to take Apple’s iWatch to “SCHOOOOLLL” leaving apples watch in the dust..

Samsung Gear S: wearing the most powerful smartwatch yet | The Verge

Samsung Gear S: wearing the most powerful smartwatch yet

Another attempt to figure out what a wearable should be Samsung’s shown itself to be entirely unafraid when it comes to smartwatches. It’s willing to try any size, any spec, any combination of features in an attempt to figure out what consumers want in a wearable. Its latest try, the Gear S, is a combination of Samsung’s newest and best ideas — and a couple of ideas it’ll soon leave by the roadside as well.

The Gear S is not designed to replace your smartphone, I’m told. It’s designed to let you leave it at home, though, or in the other room. Its built-in connectivity means that even when it’s far away from your phone it can still send and receive messages, and get turn-by-turn directions. The Gear S runs Tizen — Samsung says the Gear Store has 1,000 apps in it — and can do almost everything without a phone. The Gear Manager app still requires your phone, and you’re not exactly going to want to send emails on the tiny QWERTY keys on the Gear S, but this device generally has no need for your smartphone.

The watch itself is impressively made, with a 2-inch curved OLED display that looks great from any angle. Waterproof, black or white, thick and heavy, it’s like a larger Gear Fit. A much larger Gear Fit. It’s designed to curl around your wrist, and it’s long enough that it does exactly that; it doesn’t feel like a watch so much as a cuff. It’s a computer on your wrist, and it feels like one. The big, thick bands that come with the device make it feel even larger, but thankfully the Gear S has swappable bands so you can slim it down a little.

In a few minutes of using it, the Gear S felt fast and responsive. Its 1.0GHz processor is clearly up to the task of swiping through notifications, and even tapping out quick responses and tracking steps. It’s also remarkably more powerful than your average smartwatch, able to actually read entire emails and see all your workout and sleep information in one place. This is the rare smartwatch that’s truly independent, not always punting you back to your phone. Samsung offers a handful of nice-looking watchfaces, a heart-rate sensor, and a battery it claims will last two days.

This isn’t quite what a smartwatch could be, but it’s closerThe Gear S will be available in October in Korea, though its US fate is still very much uncertain. And this almost certainly isn’t the pinnacle of smartwatch design, for Samsung or the market at large. It’s still too big for most people, and still a little awkward to use. But curved screens feel ever more like a good idea, and it’s exciting to see wearables become more and more independently functional. There’s a lot for Samsung to take away from its latest adventure in smartwatches — and a lot left to improve upon.

Consumer SmartWatch Adoption to TakeOff in Sept (an analysis)

By |August 31st, 2014|Apple, Forecasts (In-Depth), Market Data, News, REPORTS & ANALYSIS, Smart Watches, SMARTWATCHES, Standalone, Uncategorized, WEARABLE DEVICES|

Smartwatches, until, the past few months have been clunky, ugly, and basically seen as a novelty product. We’re seeing multiple large consumer electronics companies entering the wrist-worn wearables market, in part, due to Android Wear being the first actractively useful user interface. Thank you to Google and it’s Android Wear operating system.

THE SMARTWATCH MARKET IS CONSOLIDATING

the Smartwatch market, as we expected, is in the middle of consolidating form-factors and hardware by Samsung, LG, Apple, Motorola, and Google. These large cap OEM’s entered the industry a year ago among a smarwatch market dominated by multiple small companies – producing clunky, mfg Asian components, and all watches with their own OS/User Interfaces.  As what typically happens, these small companies can’t compete against the Giant OEM’s – which is Great for Smartwatch Consumers.

Samsung, for example, released the Galaxy Gear and Gear 2 with its form-factor in focus.  Now, we’re amidst the OEM’s (Samsung, etc) fabricating advanced component technology (vs form-factor focused) which will dramatically improve and simultaneously refine a sexier, sleeker design as the market progresses.  The COMPETITION IS FIERCE.

SMARTWATCH TECH EXPEDITED; DRAMATIC IMPROVEMENTS

Overall, over the next 2-3 years, Apple, Samsung, LG’s technology advancements will seamlessly integrate into the advancement of their core products.

This August 2014, we’ve never seen to-date, such significant number of new smartwatch company’s leaking new product models and their features for an expected September-October smartwatch announcements – of either product availability or announcement of production.

The reason for such activity must be attributed to the Apple’s scheduled “new product” announcement; set for September 9th 2014. IFA Wearables Conference is also scheduled for September 3rd, 2014.  Apple’s iWatch is expected to absorb a 50% +/- 4-9% market share when released for sale over the iWatches first year.  This represents a HUGE threat to Samsung, LG, Motorola, and other competitors.

WHO WILL WINS 1ST?  The Apple iWatch or Galaxy Gear ‘S’

We predict the iWatch will meet prediction of forecasts, in sales, and market placement. Sources for this fulfullment will primarily be by Apple product and GeeKy Smartwatch fans. Most expect Apple’s iWatch to outshine every other brand competitor.  However, we disagree – strongly.

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear ‘S’ (short for ‘Solo’) will be the First, large OEM, consumer release of a 3G GSM/cdma wirelessly enabled smartwatch with a flexible display.  We’ve concluded, whomever first integrates a SIM chip within their core smartwatch model, (alongside significant form-factor improvements, a BIG BONUS) would take lead as the Top Smartwatch Company in Sales.

DATA INDEPENDENCE IS KEY
and its finally here

The experience of complete data connection independence versus any other companion device is an entirely MORE useful and practical application in design of a smartwatch – as a whole.
